SA printing jobs under threat

South Australian printing industry jobs will be “at fatal risk” if the Federal Government goes ahead with moves to change copyright law on books.

The General Manager of Griffin Press in Salisbury South, Ben Jolly, said today that current copyright laws give Australian publishers holding local copyright an exclusive right to sell an book in Australia provided they publish it within 30 days of its first overseas publication.

The Federal Government has asked the Productivity Commission to look into the laws, and it
is due to report in March this year.
